Band Members: Adam (bass) Joel (guitar) Matt (guitar and vocals) Leigh (drums) Formed in 2004, 7 Years have been working hard on building a fan base and playing as many shows as they can. 7 Years began when school mates Jeremy and Leigh started jamming in the garage of their eastern suburbs home. It wasn’t long until Matt joined the band adding an extra vocalist/guitarist to the mix. In search for a bass player, Adam answered an ad in a local street magazine which completed 7 Years. The following 12 months would see them play at almost every venue in Perth and notch up tours up and down the coast, with a following that’s growing with every gig, 7 Years made the natural progression and starting working on their debut EP. With Gavin Tempany (Little Birdy, Eskimo Joe) behind the mixing desk 7 Years started recording their debut EP, Forever Searching in January 2006. Once mixed it was sent over east to the safe hands of William Bowden (The Living End, Shihad) for mastering. The finish product, released in August 2006 is a 7 track EP which contains catchy melodies, solid riffs and strong harmonies to back it all up. 7 Years were back in the studio in 2007, this time teaming up with Al 'The Alien' Smith. What come of it was a 7 track release titled 'This Is Now' released in April 2008. With a new guitarist on-board now Joel the band are going into the studio in February to record their third ep which will be released mid 2010. |

Do you remember those blessed days when the fates aligned and that kid who was the fastest in school sprained his ankle, and the second fastest tripped over at the start of the race? Do you remember the colour of the ribbon you pinned proudly to your chest and wore for a week after? Victoria and Danni do. It was blue. The biggest thrill an 8 year old could get (aside from a little hand holding action behind the sports shed) was to win the coveted blue ribbon. It’s a hard feeling to recreate now primary school is behind us and races aren’t quite as easy to win. So now when you meet us you don’t have to ask where the hell our name comes from, or accidentally call us The Blue Fish (we hate fish…what’s up with gills anyway?) Brought together by a mutual love of modern punk, indie and acoustic driven bands, Danni and Victoria began their beautiful friendship. It was during the final years of high school where they would sit together at lunch, lamenting the lack of female fronted bands they could listen to without cringing. In a fit of defiance they began their quest to correct this travesty. With Danni on acoustic guitar, and Victoria making use of all those classical singing lessons while playing keys and acoustic guitar they graced open mic nights around Perth and Fremantle throughout early 2008, honing their original take on acoustic pop. In September of 2008 they recorded their 5-track EP, before a successful launch at Mojo’s in Fremantle. But they began to get lonely, and yearned for the addition of drum and bass to complete their sound. This came at the start of 2009 in the form of tall, shaggy haired Salv, who came bearing drumsticks and a ridiculous talent for writing beats that went with our songs better than chicos and marshmallows (a winning combination if there ever was one). Kelly, a red headed bass player living in funk-land was then lured over to the dark side of pop, completing our backline. With a fuller sound and the capacity to inspire listeners to dance and even lock lips (yes it does sometimes turn us on) we began playing in more venues around Perth. We will be singing songs about loves lost, girls who only wear dresses and letter box checking that gets you out of bed at a venue near you. www.myspace.com/thebluefinish |
